Woke up to the sound of heavy rain which was very calming to listen to but off to breakfast of fried banana which was accompanied by some lightening and a giant African land snail who we named Lisa after their full name of Lissachatina fulica. To be clear Lisa was not part of breakfast food!
The morning was spent with the Wildlife Management Team who delivered a presentation on the make up of the land that is controlled by them, just over 133,000 km’s of land which includes 26 wildlife reserves.
Lunch was a return to a local restaurant which offers a buffet. Then it was off for a wildlife walk with the hope of seeing the blue monkey. The scenery was beautiful and we saw white buzzards scoping out a deceased animal in the distance. Whilst our walk took us through some different terrains we did see the use of a free flowing river being used by locals to grow watercress.
Our return walk took us through the wooded area and unfortunately we disturbed an ant home, red fire ants to be precise and they have a sting which was very unexpected! Ouchy!!!
