Giraffes 🦒

Day 7
We woke up in the Maasai village, had breakfast and started getting ready for a walking safari. I was so excited as we haven’t seen animals yet and was hopeful that today was the day we would see some wild animals. We started walking, following a member of the Maasai tribe, and it looked like we were in the middle of nowhere. It was so hot and most of us were already sweating. We walked for a while without seeing anything until we saw some zebras. I couldn’t believe how close we were to them, the pictures we took didn’t do it justice.

But they were so pretty and it was so crazy to actually see them in the wild. Then after a little bit longer we then saw some wildebeest, gazelles and some more zebras. The tribe member then saw giraffes in the distance and took us to where they were. We all had to stop talking and making noise as we didn’t want to scare them. We then slowly approached the giraffes and they were so beautiful. My mum loves giraffes so it just reminded me of her. We took lots of pictures of the giraffes then headed back to the village.

We were all so tired though so we went to meet the bus but it was stuck in some mud. All the men there started pushing the bus while we all sat inside and they eventually managed to get the bus unstuck. We then made it back to the village and had a little talk with one of the tribe members about the history of the tribe and just a little overview about what their culture is about. We then got to try beading and we were all able to make our own bracelets. However we then left the village after that as we weren’t able to stay as everyone’s phone were dying and there wasn’t any way to charge them in the village. So we travelled about 2 hours to our new hotel and it is so nice. We were welcomed with juice and a little talk about the hotel then were guided to our rooms. The rooms are so nice, the shower is lush, the bed was huge and so comfy. I was so looking forward to sleep. After we were in our rooms for a little bit, we went down for dinner and I got a steak with chips and it was so so good. After dinner we all took some pictures by the pool then we headed back up to our rooms to chill for the evening.
