Today we visited one of the gates to Kilimanjaro and got to ask questions and talk to a lady about the mountains, the gates and the tourist side of it. We learned there are different routes and activities which can take more than 5 or 6 days. After the talk we had our lunch which was packed by our chef, it was thoughtful and has lots to choose from. When then went to a college and a teacher spoke to us about the different programs and how and what they learn. The teacher also took us to see the military training which every student has to do for 2 weeks once as a basic training, which I think it’s a good thing to learn.
We also got to go down into a war bunker which they had in the college grounds, it was really fascinating to actually go inside one and see the difference tunnels they had. After we finished our tour it was getting dark and late and we made our way to the tribe mud huts which is where we stayed that evening. They greeted us with a welcoming song that was different but nice. We then all brung our suitcases to our huts and got ready for dinner. We sat down around a fire and then sat on benches with our food. The food was really nice I really enjoyed the chicken. We then continued to sit around the fire talking and getting to know all the tribe and there culture. The hours went by so fast by just talking, watching the stars and admiring the fire so around 10pm we all went into our mud huts and supposed to go to sleep but me and Ella stayed up to watch the originals.
