Day 6-
Today we woke up and had breakfast, I had Nutella on pancakes. After breakfast we finished packing our luggage and packed our overnight bags for the Maasai Tribes.
We headed to Kilimanjaro which was three hours away from where we are staying. At Kilimanjaro, we had a woman speak to us and give us a bit of a briefing. She explained the importance of the Mountain and the amount of people who have climbed it over the years. It takes 5-6 days to climb the mountain.
We then went to a college, we had a short tour of the college and saw the military group training with fake guns. The teacher who showed us around and gave us a talk also taught tourism so it was interesting to see how different/similar the way they teach is. We then came across this Chagga Bolt Hole, which was used during tribal wars. I went down the stairs which lead to underground holes/tunnels but we couldn’t go any further as we would’ve had to crawl through the muddy tunnels.
After that, we left and started making our way to the Maasai Tribe which took about 2 hours to get to. They welcomed us with a song and showed us to our rooms. The rooms were small mud huts with two beds which were made out of wood and a tiny mattress and a table made from sticks and mud. We had a campfire and it was lovely to watch the stars. For dinner we had a buffet which included; bread rolls, vegetable pizza, tomato chutney, chicken and beef skewers and potatoes. I had two plates full and ate both. We then sat round the fire for a bit longer before heading to bed, we found a frog in our room and i was scared as it was right near my walking boots.
