Day 12 – This morning we went to breakfast at about 8:30, I had pancakes and syrup. We then left the hotel at about 9 to go to a coffee plantation, this took about an hour to get to. When we arrived we met with a couple people that worked there. They took us to their coffee plants and explained that when they turn red they are ready to pick and when they are green they are not ready. They also explained how they pick the coffee beans and the process they go through.

They picked all the red beans and went back to where they make the coffee. They had to put it through a machine which peels the outer layer of the bean off and leaves it with just the inside. They then had to crush the beans using a large wooden pot and then used a sieve to make sure the skin and coffee being were separated, whilst doing this they were singing songs. They then had to cook them over a fire for about 10 minutes to brown them off, this is how the coffee has the brown colour. After that they crushed them again using the large wooden pot to make it into a powder. We then went upstairs to a seating area where they gave us a cup of the freshly brewed coffee that they made in front of us. The coffee was very nice and wasn’t too strong. After that we went for a walk to see a waterfall but we couldn’t get too close but it was still very pretty.

Once we had finished we went to a shop to get some snacks for tomorrow. We then went to KFC for lunch. I had chicken strips and chips, it was very nice to have food from home. We ate it when we got back to the hotel and then me, Ellie and Kenzie chilled out in our room until dinner. I had spaghetti and beef, it was very nice.
