Adventure Walk

Student: Phoebe Shepherd

Country: Tanzania

Day 4 – This morning we left at about 9:30 after having breakfast. We went to the TAWA office, they explained what they do there and how they manage the wide life areas in Tanzania. They also explained the challenges they cross and how they overcome them.

The talk was about one hour, I found it very interesting to see the ways they help wildlife and the different problems they have to overcome. Once we were finished there we went for lunch at the same place we went on the second day. The food there is very nice and we went into the shop next to it to buy some snacks. We then went for a walk in the forest, it started of very nice and saw some beautiful scenery. However about 20 minutes into the walk we took and wrong path and ended up at a dead end. So we had to walk back the way we just came and ended up walking over an ant nest. The ants were all over us and started bitting our legs, everyone starting screaming and running around to try and get them off. We then got to a lake but we weren’t aloud to walk over it because it’s too dangerous so the tour guides gave us a piggy back over it.

After the lake we were pretty much back to where we started so the panic was over and we could get back onto the bus. We went back to the hotel and all showered to get the ants and mud of us, however there was no hot water so we had to have cold showers. We then went out side and played cards by the pool before dinner. For starter we had soup and we had pizza and chips for dinner. Half way through our dinner all the power went out so all the lights tuned off. This meant we had to eat or food in the dark until they turned back on again.
