The Course in Detail

An introductory course to learn about the materials used in plumbing and how to connect them. Its aim is to provide a basic foundation of common plumbing issues and how they can be corrected, it also gives an insight into a career in plumbing. 

Students will learn plumbing with a range of materials, copper pipe and fittings (including soldering), compression fittings, plastic pipe and fittings. Students will learn basic skills on how to connect these materials, and also how to deal with a variety of plumbing issues that you may come across.

They will learn:

  • How to install a radiator.
  • How to install a toilet & handbasin.
  • Carry out maintenance on a variety of taps.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

There are no formal entry requirements for this course; this course is suitable for anyone who would like to have a basic knowledge of domestic plumbing and heating systems in domestic situations.  The course does not offer qualifications to trade as a plumber.

This Could Lead to

The course could lead to a Part time Level 2 Plumbing Diploma, which would give the candidate a foundation to start a career in plumbing. 

Learners may consider further courses in plumbing, including the qualification courses offered by the college.  Further information on these is available on the website and can be discussed with your tutor.
