This Level 4 apprenticeship is designed for those ready to step up as an Applications Support Lead within IT teams. This role is vital across a wide range of industries, both public and private, where supporting software applications for users, customers, and clients is essential. As an apprentice, you’ll provide advice, training, and hands-on support for core software and hardware applications. You may also contribute to projects involving upgrades or new technology installations.

Ideal for those progressing their IT career, this apprenticeship often involves working closely with a variety of stakeholders at different levels, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. You’ll learn to manage your workload independently and work confidently without constant supervision. Being work-based, your trainer will collaborate with you and your line manager to help you develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to successfully complete the apprenticeship.

What you’ll learn:

At the end of your apprenticeship, an independent assessor will review your portfolio, including a project report and professional discussion, to confirm you’ve met all the requirements.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.

GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.

Assessment

Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.

Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.

The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
