This two-year Level 3 T Level course is a practical, work-focused alternative to A Levels, providing new opportunities for employment or further education in the health sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience through extensive work placements, where you’ll develop essential skills and knowledge. High standards of attire are expected, including wearing a set college uniform. You’ll also have access to key textbooks to support your learning.
As part of the course, you’ll need to show competence in both practical skills and theoretical knowledge. This means you’ll either need to be working or have a practical placement during your studies, and you’ll also need a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
You’ll start by learning the core concepts of the health sector, including:
-
Working within the health and science sector
-
Health, safety, and environmental regulations
-
Managing information and personal data
-
Good scientific and clinical practice
-
Providing person-centred care
-
Health and wellbeing
-
Safeguarding
-
Infection prevention and control
You’ll be assessed through an Employer Set Project and an externally marked exam, which will be combined to give you a final grade.
In the second year, you’ll specialise in an area such as Mental Health, Midwifery, or Adult Nursing, showing your competence in:
-
Assisting with an individual’s overall care and needs to ensure comfort and wellbeing
-
Assisting health professionals with clinical or therapeutic tasks
-
Undertaking a range of physiological measurements
You’ll be required to complete a substantial number of hours in a healthcare placement, working with up to two employers. Your progress will be assessed through observations and you’ll need to demonstrate good performance against set targets.
This course provides a comprehensive preparation for entering the healthcare field, whether you’re looking to go straight into employment or continue your studies in higher education.
