The Course in Detail

If you’re eager to start your career in healthcare or nursing, this T Level in Health course is for you. It offers a high-quality, work-focused alternative to A Levels, opening new routes to skilled employment or higher education. You’ll cover key topics including good clinical practice, person-centred care, safeguarding vulnerable people and infection prevention and control as well as exploring different body systems and associated diseases. You will learn essential clinical skills such as basic life support and moving and handling. Completing clinical placements will help you to develop these skills along with your confidence and understanding of careers in healthcare while an employer-set project will put your skills to the test.

The course, equivalent to three A Levels, enhances your employment prospects through extended, hands-on experience in real-life healthcare work placements, supported by experienced professionals. Lessons are conducted in our specialist hospital-style ward classrooms, providing you with practical insights into the industry and helping you develop the key skills and knowledge essential for success. You’ll also benefit from a minimum of 45-day industry placement, giving you valuable exposure to the healthcare environment.

Assessment is diverse, incorporating externally set exams, an employer-set projecta group of final practical assessments, and employer observations. Grades are awarded as Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction*.

Year 1 – You’ll establish a solid foundation of knowledge and skills relevant to all occupational specialisms, covering topics such as communication techniques, health and wellbeing, and promoting independence.

Year 2 – You’ll specialise in supporting healthcare and the adult nursing team. Throughout the course, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of health and science, including health, safety, and environmental regulations, managing information and data, and principles of good clinical practice. You’ll also explore specific healthcare science topics, including human anatomy and physiology, diseases and disorders, genomics, and medical physics, with a strong focus on providing high quality person-centred care.

By the end of this two-year course, you’ll have the practical experience and knowledge to confidently take your next steps in the healthcare sector.
