If you’re eager to start your career in healthcare or nursing, this T Level in Health course is for you. It offers a high-quality, work-focused alternative to A Levels, opening new routes to skilled employment or higher education. You’ll cover key topics like working in the health and science sector, core science concepts, and adult nursing, while completing an employer-set project to put your skills to the test.
The course, equal to three A Levels, enhances your employment prospects through extended, hands-on experience in real-life healthcare work placements, supported by experienced professionals. Lessons are conducted in our specialist hospital-style ward classrooms, providing you with practical insights into the industry and developing the key skills and knowledge essential for success. You’ll also benefit from a minimum 45-day industry placement, giving you valuable exposure to the healthcare environment.
Assessment is diverse, incorporating externally set exams, a final practical assignment, and employer observations, with grades awarded as Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction*.
Year 1 – You’ll establish a solid foundation of knowledge and skills relevant to all occupational specialisms, covering topics like person-centred care, health and wellbeing, and infection prevention and control.
Year 2 – You’ll specialise in supporting healthcare and the adult nursing team. Throughout the course, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of health and science, including health, safety, and environmental regulations, managing information and data, and principles of good scientific and clinical practice. You’ll also explore specific healthcare science topics, such as human anatomy and physiology, diseases and disorders, genomics, and medical physics, with a strong focus on providing person-centred care and infection control practices.
By the end of this two-year course, you’ll have the practical experience and knowledge to confidently take your next steps in the healthcare industry.
You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English, maths and science)
OR
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English, maths and science grades 4-9, or equivalent.
Note – There is a mandatory requirement for you to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in order to attend work placement.
Once successfully completed you can progress to a range of university-level courses, this can include HTQ or HNC/HND qualifications within the college group or degree courses at university.
