The Course in Detail

If you love designing and building things and learning how machines work, this T Level may be exactly what you need for a career in engineering.
 
T Levels are two-year, Level 3 study programmes that have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses and are equivalent to three A Levels.

You will get a mix of hands-on practical training in workshops, classroom theory learning, and a minimum 45-day industry placement with an employer to give you real experience of the workplace. They also provide excellent progression into industry, apprenticeships as well as university.
 
You will develop an understanding of:
 
• working within the Engineering and Manufacturing Sectors – an understanding of how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products
 
• essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing – a knowledge and understanding of mathematics including standard matrices and determinants and standard trigonometry
 
• materials and their properties – understanding material processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality, the condition of materials, how these are managed, and materials testing methods and techniques
 
• business, commercial and financial awareness – basic commercial principles including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation

 

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English, maths and science)
 
OR
 
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths grades 4-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

Once completed you can progress to a range of university-level courses, this can include HNC/HND qualifications within the college group or courses at university.

You can also progress into skilled employment or into a higher-level apprenticeship.
