The Course in Detail

Looking to start a career in Plumbing & Heating? This T Level gives you a comprehensive, two-year training programme, equivalent to three A Levels, and sets you up for success in the industry. Whether you’re aiming for employment, an apprenticeship, or further study, this course equips you with the skills employers want.

You will get a mix of hands-on practical training in workshops, classroom theory learning, and a minimum 45-day industry placement with an employer to give you real experience of the workplace. They also provide excellent progression into industry, apprenticeships as well as university.

Through this T Level you will learn:

• Health and safety in construction
• The science behind building design, surveying, and planning
• Construction methods and building regulations
• Data management and digital engineering techniques
• Mathematical techniques to solve construction problems
• The role of construction in the economy and its environmental impact
• Customer service, relationship management, and sustainability in construction

You will also learn about topics specific to Plumbing & Heating Engineering, including:
 
• Plumbing tools and equipment
• Pipework materials, installation methods, and jointing processes
• The purpose and function of plumbing systems
• Plumbing science principles

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English and maths)
 
OR
 
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths grades 4-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

Upon successful completion of this Level 3 course, you can progress to a range of university-level courses, this can include HNC/HND qualifications within the college group or courses at university.

You can also progress into skilled employment or into a higher-level apprenticeship.
