The Course in Detail

Ready to transform your passion for photography into a career? This two-year course is your gateway to the dynamic and ever-changing world of photography. Images are everywhere—from advertising and fashion to social media and cinema. Through this course you’ll learn how to blend creativity with technical skill, being able to experiment and use a mixed-media approach to bring your ideas to life.

Guided by industry expert lecturers, you’ll take part in practical workshops in our fully-equipped photography studio and editing space. Alongside these workshops, you’ll also benefit from workshops, industry guest speakers, trips, and work experience placements. Combined this will provide you with key transferable skills in research, problem-solving, and communication skills—transferable skills that will set you up for a successful career after your studies.

The course is highly practical but also includes theory lessons, gallery visits, and written work, all evidenced through digital sketchbooks and essays. You’ll create a personalised portfolio showcasing your unique style and technical skills, preparing you for higher education or employment in the photography industry. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through work placements, and our collaborative approach to portfolio development will give you the edge when applying for jobs or university-level courses.

You’ll have the chance during your course to exhibit in our annual art exhibition, a fantastic opportunity to make connections and show off your talent.

Interviews are held in person, and you’ll need to bring a portfolio of your photography, which can be presented digitally, along with any other art pieces or research you’ve done.
