Are you dreaming of a career as a hair and make-up artist in the entertainment industry?
This Level 3 advanced course combines practical skills and creative techniques to prepare you for work in TV, film, theatre, or fashion. Over two years, you’ll gain hands-on experience in our purpose-built make-up studio, working on exciting live projects like in-college theatre performances, special effects for a horror maze, and professional productions.
In your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation with units such as:
You’ll develop skills in hair styling, wig fitting, and body art while working on live projects to build a professional portfolio.
In the second year, you’ll advance to more specialised techniques such as:
You’ll also cover professional production planning and learn how to establish yourself as a self-employed make-up artist, gaining the business skills needed to promote yourself in the industry.
Throughout the course, you’ll gain valuable industry experience through work placements and off-site trips.
You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English and maths. Science is preferable, and Art or a creative art portfolio to demonstrate artistic skill is desirable.
OR
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths at grades 4-9, or equivalent.
Note – You will need to purchase a professional hair and make-up kit. Information provided at interview.
After successfully completing this course, you can progress to study a HNC or HND, University Degree or an Apprenticeship to further your skills.
You can also progress into employment in the industry.
