If you’re interested in construction, assembly and manufacturing, a role as an Engineering Fitter may suit you.
In this Apprenticeship, you will produce, repair and refurbish high-value complex components or assemblies, such as pipes, turbines, cranes, gearboxes, production lines, rigs and platforms.
You’ll learn how to independently interpret drawings and specifications to plan your work, select and use the appropriate machines, equipment or systems, then check your work against quality standards and make adjustments. Engineering Fitters have great attention to detail and time management to ensure work is completed to the high standards required.
Your work might vary between a workshop and on-site, with a team or on your own. Roles covered in this apprenticeship could be Electrical Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Instrumentation Fitter, Control and Systems Fitter or Pipe Fitter.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of an Engineering Fitter and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College on a day release basis.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills to work as an Engineering Fitter and progress to further career opportunities in the sector. This could include higher education such as a HNC or degree apprenticeship.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
