The Course in Detail

On this Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce course, you will study fourteen mandatory units and up to eight optional units covering communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, duty of care, child development, safeguarding, developing positive relationships, health and safety of children and young people, working together, supporting positive outcomes and professional practice in learning, development and support.

This course is delivered online during normal college term time.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will be required to have a school placement and either be employed or volunteering for a minimum of twelve hours per week. If volunteering you should be in the role for at least three months before applying for a place on this course. You will be required to have a good level of English in order to complete assignments.

This Could Lead to

This course provides opportunities for employed Teaching Assistants to progress to a higher level Teaching Assistant qualification and build confidence in the role of understanding the knowledge behind the practice.

For those not employed within an appropriate setting as a Teaching Assistant, it will open doors to employment. Roles the qualification will prepare you for include:

  • Teaching Assistant
  • Learning Support Assistant
  • Special Needs Assistant
