If you aspire to become a qualified, accredited electrician, the Level 3 award is a necessity if you are not doing an apprenticeship.
The course is thorough and varied, delivered to suit a range of learning styles; assessment is carried out through a mixture of online and written exams, as well as practical and written assessments. Content is dynamic and stimulating, spanning everything from the basics of testing and inspection, fault finding and rectification, environmental technologies, electrical principles and electrical systems design. Whatever your area of interest, we’re sure to cover it.
The programme is well suited to those with competing commitments, as it runs one day per week for one term (summer term after level 2) and one academic year. All students are encouraged (and supported) to deepen their experience within the industry during their time away from the College, both building their connections and expanding their understanding of the subject. We believe that not all learning can come from a book; in fact, our courses are driven by “hands on” education and experiences. You will be shown how to use a range of, industry standard multi-function testing equipment before putting the equipment into action yourself. Plus, you’ll benefit from frequent demonstrations and simulations of electric principles to add another layer to your understanding.
Delivery of the programme will be in our purpose built, innovative classrooms featuring the latest electrical tools and inspection and testing assessment rigs. The setting gives you the best possible insight into the workplace without actually being there, providing context to your learning and getting you “job ready”. Our staff have all spent years working as electricians, sharing their passion, knowledge and insights while utilising the latest online learning systems to increase your development. You’ll leave inspired and encouraged, perfectly equipped to build your career in this thriving industry.
Subjects covered:
This is aimed for you if you have completed your Level 2 in Electrical Installations and you’re ready to broaden your knowledge of design, inspection and testing, fault diagnosis and principles on your route to becoming an electrician.
All applicants will sit a BKSB assessment and diagnostic testing. You may also be required to sit a college interview.
