Do you want to advance your career in accounting?
Assistant Accountants provide support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an Assistant Accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of your role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities, such as data entry to month end management accounts, and/or year-end financial statements. In addition you may get involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of an Assistant Accountant and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College on a day release basis.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred AND you will need Level 2 AAT.
Completion of this apprenticeship standard provides the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the Accounting sector including Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.
Progression to the Level 4 Professional Accounting or Taxation Technician Apprenticeship will also help further advance your career in the Accounting sector, and may lead to credits towards professional Chartered status qualifications and relevant undergraduate degree programmes.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
