As a Water Network Operative, you’ll learn how to work safely on water mains and highways, carrying out both planned maintenance and emergency repairs. Training combines practical, hands-on learning with workplace experience, covering areas such as excavation, site safety, traffic management, utility operations, customer service and environmental responsibility.
Working alongside industry-leading employers, you’ll gain experience across a variety of environments, including public highways, new developments and live utility networks. What You'll Need
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 Functional Skills) are preferred.

On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills and knowledge to work as a Water Network Skilled Operative. You could progress into a range of career opportunities within the water utilities, civil engineering, highways and groundworks sectors.
Further progression may include specialising in more complex operations or advancing into supervisory roles, such as Site Supervisor or Lead Ganger, through additional training and experience.
Assessment
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the apprenticeship standard, your competence will be assessed through a range of methods, including practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations and observations. We will also assess your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final stage of your apprenticeship. It is designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and carry out your job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to achieve your apprenticeship certificate.
