Are you considering a career in the uniformed public services?

This ourse is designed to give you a comprehensive introduction to the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for roles in the armed forces, police, fire and rescue services, and other public service sectors. It combines practical and theoretical learning, helping you to understand the expectations and requirements of working in these essential fields.

Throughout the programme, you’ll cover a range of topics including Teamwork, Communication Skills, Health and Fitness, Navigation, and Equality and Diversity. You’ll also have direct contact with various uniformed public services through presentations, visits, and activities. Past experiences include spending a day with the Royal Marines, drill and radio exercises with the Army, visits to local fire stations, and role-playing as a casualty for paramedic assessments.

In addition to classroom learning, you’ll engage in physical training and adventurous activities that mirror the demands of public service roles. You’ll develop leadership, problem-solving, and map-reading skills, and take part in volunteering to enhance your social responsibility and community awareness.

The course includes exciting, hands-on opportunities such as:

• Investigation of employment opportunities in the uniformed services.
• Participation in physical fitness activities.
• Leadership and teamwork development through practical challenges.
• Map reading and navigation exercises.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need four GCSEs at grades 3-9, or equivalent (including English and maths)
 
OR
 
Relevant Level 1 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths at grades 3-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

 Once completed you can progress to Level 3 Uniformed Public Services.
