Are you ready to start turning your passion for sport into a rewarding career?
This qualification provides you with the foundation to begin your career in the sports industry.

Giving you both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in the sport industry, particularly in fitness and coaching. You’ll have the chance to learn in a fun and engaging environment, with lessons taking place not only in the classroom but also in Gym 141, the exercise science laboratory, and the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

Throughout your studies, you’ll cover a range of specific units, including Introduction to Healthy Exercise and Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise, Planning and Running a Sports Event, and Physical Fitness and Injury in Sport. You’ll also have the option to explore units such as Strength and Conditioning, Sports Coaching, and Performance Analysis for Sport.

To enhance your employability, you’ll undertake optional study units and additional professional qualifications, including coaching awards and a Sports Leadership Certificate.

If you aspire to be a personal trainer, you’ll have the opportunity to achieve a Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification, preparing you for work in leisure and gym environments.

For those interested in the leisure industry, guidance towards other professional qualifications, such as lifeguarding, will be provided. This course is designed to equip you with the skills and experience necessary for a successful career in sport and fitness.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need four GCSEs at grades 3-9, or equivalent (including English and maths)

OR

Relevant Level 1 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths at grades 3-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

Once completed you may be able to progress onto one of our Level 3 advanced qualifications including: Gym Instructing & Personal Training, Sport & Physical Activity (Sport & Exercise Science) or Sport, Fitness & Personal Training.
