Develop your understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) with this nationally recognised Level 2 Certificate. This flexible online course is ideal for anyone looking to build their knowledge of SEND, whether for personal interest, professional development or to support a career working with children, young people or adults.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore a wide range of SEND conditions, the impact they can have on an individual’s daily life and the legislation, guidance and best practices that support people with SEND. You’ll also develop an understanding of person-centred approaches, equality, diversity and inclusion, and the importance of creating supportive and inclusive environments.
The course covers:

- Equality, diversity and inclusion in the context of SEND
- Relevant legislation, safeguarding responsibilities and guidance relating to SEND

- Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and their role in supporting individuals with SEND
- Neurodiversity, self-identity and the impact of societal and cultural influences
- Sources of support available for individuals with SEND and their families
- The impact of stigma and the importance of promoting understanding and inclusion
This course is free due to local government funding – you must meet the requirements listed below.
Please note – Applicants must be 19+ and live within the areas of Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Portsmouth City Council or Southampton City Council. Applications from outside these areas will be returned.

What You'll Need
You’ll need English skills at Level 1 standard. This will be assessed as part of the application process.
You’ll also need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a reliable internet connection to complete your online learning.
