The Course in Detail
Kickstart your career in the beauty industry with the VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology, a nationally recognised vocational qualification designed to give you the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to work as a junior nail technician or through your own business.
Over the course, you will build both practical and theoretical expertise in key nail services and professional practices, including:
- Professional health, safety and hygiene in a salon environment
- Client care, consultation and communication skills
- Manicure and pedicure treatments
- Providing and maintaining nail enhancements
- Creative nail art and design techniques
- Realistic salon-style practice to build confidence and competence
You will develop your skills through hands-on practice in a realistic salon environment, preparing you for the everyday demands of nail technology work.

What You'll Need
We recommend a conversation with a member of the Beauty Team before applying to ensure the course is right for you.
You should have a basic level of English to support the theory elements of the qualification.
If you already hold related beauty qualifications, please bring proof to your enrolment interview.
To take part in the course, you will need:
- A full nail kit
- Suitable salon attire: a tunic (if available) or smart black trousers, a smart black top and dark, flat, closed-in shoes (no trainers)
- Basic stationery, such as a pen and paper for note-taking
This Could Lead to
Following completion of this course, you may be able to gain employment in a number of establishments such as salons, beauty complexes within hotels or in department stores, or become self employed and have your own business. You may also be able to progress onto Level 3 Nail Technology.
