Do you have great time management, good technical skills, and enjoy working with machinery? Become an Engineering Operative with a valuable skillset through a Level 2 apprenticeship.
You’ll learn to carry out a range of engineering operations which could include operating machines (CNC or Conventional), handling breakdowns, repairing and restoring components and systems to serviceable condition, assembling and repairing dies, jigs, fixtures and other tools, and fabrication/installation of equipment.
Engineering Operatives produce high quality work while meeting deadlines and targets. You will need to have a good awareness of hazards and mitigate them to work securely and safely, complying with statutory regulations and organisation safety requirements.
In this apprenticeship, you will gain essential skills that can be transferred across engineering and manufactoring sectors as you progress in your career. You will also gain specialist experience in your company and sector, which could be creating components for cars, airplanes, consumer goods, medical devices or more.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of an Engineering Operative and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College on a day release basis.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills to work as an Engineering Operative and progress to further career opportunities in the engineering and maufactoring sectors. This could include further training to specialise in complex machines and components or advancing to a supervisory role.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
