The Course in Detail

Candidates will be assessed in practical sessions and theory exams throughout the year. The course will cover the following: – Working safely – Installing and testing pipe systems and components – Maintaining pipe systems and components – Installing bathroom and kitchen plumbing – Installing heating radiators – Working with others and customer relations The Diploma Certificate in plumbing Level 2 is gained by successfully completing theory exams and specified practical assessments. The theory sessions will provide students with new technical concepts and safe working practices. The practical sessions will consolidate these practices with an opportunity for hands on experience. On completion of the course students will be able understand the principles of plumbing, and be able to install, commission and maintain hot and cold water systems, sanitation equipment i.e. bathroom suite and associated drainage.

On completion of the Technical Certificate, students can progress on to NVQ Levels 2/3 at Eastleigh College, providing they have gained full-time employment in the plumbing industry. The Level 3 NVQ will provide training in unvented hot water, or the ACS gas qualification.
