The Course in Detail

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a substantial vocational qualification for students seeking a career as a junior beauty therapist. This qualification will support you to gain employment as a junior beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior therapist including, mandatory units covering:

  • Facial skincare
  • Waxing
  • Eyelash and eyebrow treatments
  • Manicure
  • Pedicure
  • Make-up
  • Nail art
  • Client care
  • Health and safety
  • Spray and manual tanning

The structure of this qualification provides you with the flexibility to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills required to become a junior beauty therapist.

What You'll Need

A minimum level of English is required to enable the successful completion of the knowledge required.

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

Students must have a genuine interest in the beauty industry, enthusiasm and commitment.

There will be an element of home study to complete the course.

This Could Lead to

This course opens the door to a range of career opportunities as a junior beauty therapist. You could go on to work in commercial beauty salons, retail concessions within department stores, or operate independently through self-employed, mobile, or home-based beauty services.

While the course is designed to prepare you for entry-level employment in the beauty industry, you may also choose to build on your skills and knowledge by progressing to Technical Level qualifications in Beauty Therapy at Level 3.
