The Course in Detail

The Level 2 qualification in Barbering may include a number of units, skills and duties:

•  Cutting hair using barbering techniques
•  Cutting facial hair to shape using basic techniques
•  Drying and finishing men’s hair
•  Creating basic patterns in hair
•  Promoting products and services.

An element of home study will be expected to be able to complete written assignments. Technical understanding of theory will then be put into practice.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

To apply on this course, you must be 19 years or over and have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, including English, Maths, and Science, or have successfully completed a Level 1 Hairdressing course.

You will be required to attend a college interview to demonstrate your interest and commitment to study, and to complete any necessary literacy or numeracy assessments, such as BKSB. The course requires good dexterity for practical treatments, strong literacy skills in English for communication, and a basic understanding of Maths for calculations and measurements.

A neat and professional appearance, a sympathetic nature, and a genuine desire to help clients are essential, along with a willingness to learn new techniques and explore different areas of barbering.

Successful completion of this course provides a natural step forward onto our Level 3 Barbering qualification or employment in a junior level in the industry.
