If you’re looking to break into the media industry, this course is an ideal starting point. It combines practical skills with essential background theory, giving you a well-rounded introduction to media practices. Guided by our industry expert lecturers, you’ll complete a range of hands-on projects, including media campaigns, photography, digital illustration, animation workshops, editorial design, videography, graphics, and audio production. These projects will help you build a diverse skill set that’s essential for succeeding in this fast-paced sector.
Work experience is a key part of the course, giving you the chance to apply what you’ve learned in real-world settings and gain insight into the media industries. This practical exposure will help you understand the professional environment and build connections that could be valuable for your future career.
Beyond practical skills, you’ll also develop your understanding of the media industries and the practices that underpin them. You’ll have opportunities to take part in cultural visits that will expand your knowledge and inspire your creative work.
Throughout the course, you’ll gain valuable experience and build a portfolio that showcases your talents, whether your interest lies in graphic design, film, animation, or another area of media. This course also equips you with functional skills that are fundamental to success in the media industries, providing a strong foundation for your future career or further education.
You will need four GCSEs at grades 3-9, or equivalent (including English and maths).
Once completed you may be able to progress to our T Level Media, Broadcasting & Production course to advance your skills.
Alternatively, you may be able to progress to our Level 3 Creative Media Production course depending on what you wish to specialise in.
