Develop your understanding of mental health problems with this nationally recognised Level 2 Certificate, delivered through flexible online learning. This course is ideal for anyone looking to increase their awareness of mental health, understand common mental health conditions and develop their confidence when supporting others.

Mental health awareness is increasingly important across many workplaces and communities. This course will help you explore a range of mental health conditions, the factors that can influence mental wellbeing and the impact mental health problems can have on individuals and those around them.

Throughout the course, you’ll develop an understanding of different mental health conditions, including their possible causes, symptoms, impact and approaches to support. You’ll also explore the social and legal context of mental health, the importance of reducing stigma and how to promote understanding and positive wellbeing.

On this course, you’ll explore:

  • The meaning of mental health and mental ill health, including how approaches to mental health care have changed over time
  • The social and legal context surrounding mental health
  • The causes, effects and management of stress
  • Anxiety, panic attacks and phobias, including their impact and approaches to support
  • Depression and postnatal depression, including causes, effects and management strategies
  • Bipolar disorder, including symptoms, impact and support approaches
  • Schizophrenia, including causes, the impact of stigma and available support
  • Dementia, including causes, effects and approaches to supporting individuals
  • Eating disorders, including their impact and available support
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), including symptoms, impact and management approaches
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), including associated thoughts, behaviours and support approaches
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), including causes, symptoms and ways individuals can be supported
