The Course in Detail

Our multi-trade course is ideal if you’re aged 16 – 19 and considering a career in construction but are not sure on which specific area yet, or haven’t quite met the grades for direct entry to our full Level 1 trade-specific courses.

This one-year course will introduce you to the construction sector, providing you with knowledge, understanding and some basic practical skills and experience in painting and decorating, bricklaying and carpentry to enable you to choose which area you would like to go on to study and specialise in. It will help you to develop skills within construction, while improving your maths and English, for progression to a trade-specific course or apprenticeship.

You will learn:
• Introduction to health and safety in construction
• Painting techniques
• Painting a panel door
• Constructing one brick walling
• Constructing halving joints
• Constructing angled halving joints

What You'll Need

You will need four GCSEs at grades 2-9, or equivalent (including English and maths).

This Could Lead to

Once you have successfully completed the Multi-Trades course you may be able to progress to one of our full Level 1 Construction courses, in your chosen trade, to further your skills.
