The Course in Detail

Are you interested in the exciting world of motor vehicles and engineering? This Level 1 course offers a comprehensive introduction to essential motor vehicle principles, including the identification and operation of key components. You’ll gain the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for a future in light and heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, whether through full-time work or an apprenticeship.

You’ll cover vital topics such as engine systems, vehicle steering, braking, and suspension maintenance, as well as foundational vehicle electrical systems and health and safety practices.

In addition to hands-on learning in our state-of-the-art motor vehicle workshop, you’ll engage in industry trips, networking events, and guest lectures to connect with professionals and explore your career options.

You will need four GCSEs at grades 2-9, or equivalent (including English, maths and science).

This Could Lead to

Once completed you may be able to progress onto our Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintence & Repair or Level 2 Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
