Do you aspire to support individuals and groups with their learning and development towards agreed goals?
You will do this by working within ethical and legal frameworks to ensure a high standard of mentoring practice. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to inclusively meet the individual needs of the mentee. You will work in a variety of locations and environments where mentoring activity may be undertaken face to face or remotely. In your daily work, you may interact with other professionals at any level of seniority in the organisation and the sector, such as: supervisors, managers, trainees, other experienced practitioners and where necessary, internal/external professionals to support meeting the individual mentee needs.
You will be responsible for the mentor relationship with the mentee working within ethical and legal frameworks and organisational boundaries to support the progression of the mentee. This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of a Learning & Skills Mentor and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College for pre-arranged masterclasses.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills to work as a Learning & Skills Mentor and progress to further opportunities in the Education sector, which could include the Level 5 Learning & Skills Teacher Apprenticeship.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
