This Kickstart programme is designed to give you the skills, confidence and independence to progress further in your studies.
It allows you to build on your study skills, soft skills needed for college and employment, as well as giving you the opportunity to research other vocational areas within the college. You will also study English and maths as part of your programme.
What you will learn:
Kickstart is the ideal stepping stone to higher-level technical and vocational study. You’ll learn a variety of skills, gain some experience, and get a practical taste of some different vocational areas, such as: Art, Business, Hospitality, Hair & Beauty, Care, Construction (Multi-Trades), or Motor Vehicle depending on your location.
Kickstart is perfect for individuals who are yet to meet the entry requirements for their chosen study programme, are unsure of their future career options, have found full-time courses challenging, and are aged 16-18 (or up to 24 if supported with an EHCP).
Successful completion of this programme can lead to a vocational course at college subject to your individual performance, attitude and attendance, or alternatively into work.

College is not just about your course – it’s an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and explore your interests! You can socialise with friends in the café and comfy seating areas, join a club or sports team or attend exciting events around the college. Many of our enrichment opportunities are also great on your CV or UCAS application to demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm outside of your studies.
Your time at college can also be affected by life or health difficulties, and it’s okay to need support. Our specialist teams are here every day to listen and give advice, whether it’s about career planning, financial support, mental health, or something else. And if you have a long-term support need or medical condition, we’ll work with you on personalised learning support to help you achieve your full potential.
