Are you aged 19+ and ready to build your future? Our 3-week Construction Work-Based Academy Programme (SWAP) is FREE and is designed specifically to help individuals currently out of work kickstart a new career in construction and civil engineering.
This hands-on course equips you with essential skills, certifications and connections to employers, so you’ll be ready to step straight onto a construction site with confidence and skill.

What you can expect
Throughout the three-week academy, you’ll gain hands-on experience, structured guidance, and personalised support from industry-experienced trainers. You’ll complete practical assignments and be supported in mastering core concepts that are essential to working on-site. You’ll also have the opportunity to grow your network by meeting local employers and agencies actively looking for trained and certified professionals like you.

The programme is designed to help jobseekers, who are claiming either Universal Credit (UA), Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), to build confidence, improve job prospects and enhance CVs.
You must be aged 19+, have a good understanding of written and spoken English, and be in receipt of unemployment benefit to be eligible to access this SWAP opportunity free of charge.
Note – you won’t lose your benefits whilst taking part in a SWAP.
On completion of this construction programme, you’ll have a guaranteed interview with a local employer or recruitment agency. From here, the doors open to multiple paths in the construction industry including:

Many of our enrichment opportunities are also great on your CV or UCAS application to demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm outside of your studies.
