The Course in Detail

You will gain confidence in reading for everyday use, as well as be encouraged and supported to develop in depth and analytical reading skills.

You will develop your writing skills for everyday and vocational use. And of course, you will be using regular feedback to make improvements in all areas, including the basic foundations of Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. The course will also help to improve confidence, through discussions and presentations, in speaking, listening and communication.

You will be placed on a level appropriate for your previous achievements and current understanding.

Functional Skills English here at South Hampshire College Group can provide just that. Classes are designed to develop your confidence and the foundations to progress on to higher level English qualifications, or to enable you to use your skills in everyday life, both personally and professionally. Level Two Functional Skills is now nationally recognised as equivalent to a GCSE Grade 4, and is accepted in many vocational settings.
