The Course in Detail

This course is for learners aged 19+ with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities.

You’ll learn the skills to make everyday healthy meals on a budget. Each week, you’ll get to prepare and cook a meal to take home to enjoy.

You’ll collate a recipe folder that you can use to make the recipes in your own time.

You’ll learn basic kitchen hygiene, and have an opportunity to socialise with other learners.

This is a leisure course so there is no formal qualification.

This course will cover meal preparation and cooking, using ingredients that are affordable, and creating simple meals that are healthy.

On our Everyday Cooking on a Budget course, learners will learn:

  • Kitchen Hygiene skills for the domestic kitchen
  • Meal planning
  • Socialising with others
  • Cooking times and how to adapt recipes

Course fee concessions are possible – eligibility is based on income.

What You'll Need

You do not need previous knowledge or experience. You will learn through verbal instructions, watching and modelling. You will be shown what to do.

Our friendly Adult Community Learning team will be in contact once we have received your application so we can assess your suitability for the course.

This course is part of our Adult Enrichment Programme which is designed to offer a range of opportunities for adult learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities.  All that is required is an enthusiasm to take part.  Please contact us on 023 8091 1270 if you are not sure if this course is suitable for you.

This Could Lead to

This is a leisure course designed to be fun and engaging. Whilst there is no official progression, learners are welcome to re-enrol on to this course or try one of our other Adult Community Courses.
