Do you have a background in Engineering, an eye for detail and good judgement? Do you want to help keep people safe when they’re at work, at school and in public?
As an Engineer Surveyor, you will be responsible for inspecting a wide variety of equipment in workplaces such as football stadiums, music events, the film industry, dockyards as well as factories, shops, quarries, hospitals and schools.
You’ll conduct thorough examinations on of millions of items of equipment every year from eyebolts to tower cranes, coffee boilers to steam trains, electrical installations, lifts, escalators and construction equipment. You will specialise in either Mechanical or Electrical surveying.
In your day-to-day, you will need to travel to client sites, achieve targets working to tight timeframes, work independently, make confident judgements and self-motivate.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of an Engineering Surveyor and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College on a block release basis.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
You must have a Level 3 Technical Certificate in an Engineering discipline AND a minimum of 3 years experience within a relevant field of Engineering.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are also preferred.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills to work as an Engineering Surveyor, with the option to specialise to other roles such as Lift Inspector, Crane Inspector, Power Press Inspector or Competent Person.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
