The Course in Detail

This course will enable students to perform some common vehicle checks in preparation for a long journey and some aspects of a minor service.

Students will work on a typical family car, provided by the college, alone or in small groups.

Students will get an introduction into working with an IC Engine.

Students will also learn how to check, remove & replace:

  • Bulbs
  • Wheels
  • Engine Oil & filters
  • Front brake pads
  • OBD codes
  • Fuses
  • Tyre
  • Fluid levels
  • Some MOT criteria

What You'll Need

There is no entry requirements for this however, students are required to bring overalls and steel toe capped boots to the sessions.

This Could Lead to

Students will be able to carry out basic vehicle checks on their vehicle. The course may interest them in looking into entry level work in a car garage.
