The enrolment information here is for adult learners, aged 19+, whether you’re joining us for a part-time professional course or a Higher Education (HE) qualification.
If you’re aged 16-19, then please visit either New Full-Time Students or Returning Full-Time Students for the information you’ll need.
Please be aware that August – September is an extremely busy period for our Admissions Teams and there may be a delay in our response to your calls or emails.
Enrolment is the final part of the process for you to join the College. It’s where we check your ID, prior qualifications, confirm your course fees and funding method, sign your learning agreement, get your student ID card printed, and make sure you’re all set to start your course.
You must complete enrolment to join one of our courses.
Enrolment for our part-time adult learning and Higher Education (HE) courses takes place online. Some in-person enrolment sessions will be arranged to support applicants that require or would prefer that option.
You will receive an email confirming enrolment instruction for your course, which will include uploading proof of identity (preferably a form of photo ID), relevant evidence of income or benefits for funding purposes (if required), and a passport-style photo of yourself.
You must complete enrolment to join one of our courses.

All students are required to wear an ID badge. If you have completed online enrolment for your course, and uploaded a suitable photo, your personalised student ID card and SHCG branded lanyard will be ready waiting for you on the first day of your course. If you come in-person to the college to do your enrolment, then we will take your photo and create your student ID card there and then. Your ID card will provide you with access to our colleges, and you are required to always wear it whilst onsite.
Keeping our college safe – all students and staff are issued with an ID card to show that they are a member of our college community and are authorised to be onsite at our college.
Part-time and HE courses start at various times throughout the year – start dates and times are on our website for most courses. You will be notified of your confirmed course start date and times during the enrolment process.
On your first day at college, staff will be on hand to welcome you and help direct you to where you need to go. Please remember to wear your lanyard and student ID card.
Depending on your circumstances and/or which course you wish to take, there may be a fee to pay for your course. As part of the enrolment process, you will be contacted with information about the cost of your course and any funding and/or financial support available to you.
FREE English and maths courses*
You don’t have to pay tuition fees for a basic English (literacy) or maths (numeracy) course up to Level 2, or for GCSE English and maths qualifications, if you have not already gained a grade 4/C or above at GCSE, or an equivalent qualification, in these subjects.

Financial support may be available, depending on your personal circumstances, to support you with college meals, travel, essential kit and uniform, trips, other course costs, or childcare.
