We’re really pleased that you are joining South Hampshire College Group (SHCG) this September, and we hope you’re looking forward to starting (or returning to) one of our colleges.
The information here is for new students aged 16–19. If you are a returning student, please view our returning student information and guidance.
Please be aware that August – September is an extremely busy period for our Admissions Teams and there may be a delay in our response to your calls or emails.
Enrolment is the final part of the process for you to join the College. It’s where we check your exam results and certificates, confirm your course and learning agreement, get your student ID card printed, and make sure you’re all set to start your course in September.
Enrolment will take place during the last week of August, with late enrolment appointments being held once the main enrolment days have finished, and continuing into the first couple of weeks of September.
If you have a course offer with us, you will be emailed in August with confirmation of the date and time of your in-person enrolment appointment, which will be held at the college you have been offered a place at. You must attend this appointment to secure your place.
*Please note that if you’re holding multiple offers with South Hampshire College Group you will be offered an enrolment appointment for the course we have recorded as your first-choice offer. If you wish to change your first-choice offer and your enrolment appointment, please contact the college you wish to attend.
If you can’t find our emails, please check your junk mail / spam folder.
It is important that you do your best to attend your enrolment appointment. Many courses are in high demand, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If you can’t attend your appointment, get in touch with our Admissions Team to re-arrange an alternative date and time during Late Enrolment. Please ensure you provide us with your full name, date of birth, student reference number (if known), course name, and the dates that you are unavailable.

Fareham College, CEMAST & CETC – [email protected]<
Southampton College – [email protected]
Please note – our teams will be extremely busy during August and September so it may take us slightly longer than usual to get back to you. Please bear with us!
We anticipate your enrolment appointment to take about 45 minutes, however, depending on your circumstances (for example changing course or needing to re-sit GCSE English and/or maths) or at peak times, you may be with us for up to 2 hours.
No, it’s not too late although there may be limited courses available. We are still taking applications and will do our best to find spaces for late applicants.
If you’ve not yet applied, please find your preferred course on our website and complete an online application. Please check that you have achieved, or are likely to achieve, the relevant course entry requirements before making your application.
You will be invited to a Late Interview & Enrolment appointment, which will be held in early September at the college you have applied to. Keep an eye on your emails as there may be short notice of your appointment (and check your junk mail / spam folder). It is important that you attend your appointment as late spaces are expected to fill up fast. Many courses are already in high demand, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If you haven’t got the grades you were expecting or have applied and not been offered a place then please find out what further steps you can take
So that we can complete your enrolment, you must bring the following with you to your enrolment appointment:
DBS check
Some courses, like health, care and early years, require an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. We will need to see additional documents for these at your enrolment appointment, such as proof of current address (in an official letter no older than three months). You’ll receive more details in a separate DBS email from us if this applies to you.
All students are required to wear an ID badge. At your enrolment appointment, we will take your photo, and you will be given your personalised student ID card and SHCG branded student lanyard. This will provide you with access to our colleges, and you are required to wear it at all times whilst onsite.
Keeping our college safe – all students and staff are issued with an ID card to show that they are a member of our college community and are authorised to be onsite at our college.
Full-time courses start week beginning 7 September 2026; your lecturer will tell you when your first day of college will be during your enrolment appointment.
On your first day at college, staff will be on hand to welcome you and help direct you to where you need to go. Please remember to wear your lanyard and student ID card.
During your enrolment appointment, the lecturer will provide you with your provisional timetable and will confirm the date and time you need to start your course. Please note this timetable may be subject to change and will not include any required English and/or maths classes.
We recommend that you don’t purchase any course specific kit or uniform until you have your exam results and have attended your enrolment appointment to confirm your place, as you may enrol onto a different course or level than the one you were offered based on whether your grades are higher or lower than you were predicted. Kit and uniform requirements vary by course and level.
The lecturer will confirm what you’ll need during your enrolment appointment.
If you’re aged under 19 (as of 31 August 2026), then your full-time course will be free to study, but coming to college can involve other costs such as travel, equipment and trips. Financial support may be available.
If you have been offered a place on a full-time course and are aged 19 or over (as of 31 August 2026), you will be contacted with information about the cost of your course and any funding and/or financial support available to you.
There is some useful course fee and financial support information on our website: Financial Support – SHCG | South Hampshire College Group
Financial support may be available, depending on your personal circumstances, to support you with college meals, travel, essential kit and uniform, trips, other course costs, or childcare. Further information, and how to apply, is available on our website: Financial Support – SHCG | South Hampshire College Group
If you haven’t achieved GCSE English and/or maths at grade 4 or above, then you’ll need to retake these GCSEs or do functional skills qualifications. These requirements will be added to your final timetable alongside your main subject qualification.
If you’re concerned that you haven’t met the entry requirements for the course you have been offered, don’t worry, we will discuss any necessary alternative options when you come for your appointment.
You should still attend your scheduled enrolment appointment, even if you need to discuss your results with us. We are confident that we will have a course that is right for you.
If you have recently made an application for one of our full-time courses, then you should receive an email from us shortly inviting you to a Late Interview & Enrolment appointment, which will be held in early September at the college you have applied to. Keep an eye on your emails and do check your junk mail / spam folder.
It is important that you attend your appointment as late spaces are expected to fill up fast. Many courses are in high demand, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If your contact details have changed, please contact our Admissions Team for the college you have applied to, stating your full name, date of birth, student reference number (if known), and confirm your new contact details. We will then update our records.
