The Course in Detail

If you’re interested in beauty, wellbeing and working with people, this part-time Level 2 Beauty Therapy course is a great place to start your career in the industry.

This one-year course is designed to give you a strong foundation in a wide range of beauty treatments, combining practical skills with essential theory and professional client care. The course is delivered across two 3-hour sessions each week, and you’ll need to attend both sessions to fully develop the skills required.

You’ll learn how to carry out a range of treatments including facial skincare, manicure and pedicure services, waxing, lash and brow treatments, nail art, tanning, and make-up application. Alongside this, you’ll develop key professional skills such as health and safety, client care and communication, and promoting products and services.

Training takes place in our modern, purpose-built commercial salons, where you’ll work under supervision with real clients. This gives you valuable hands-on experience and helps you build confidence in both your practical ability and customer service skills. Our Kudos salons provide a professional working environment with industry-standard equipment, giving you a real insight into life in a salon.

You’ll learn in individual treatment cubicles equipped with everything you need, including couches, trolleys, seating and sink areas, with privacy screens to create a professional client experience. Your lecturers are industry-trained professionals who will support you throughout your studies and tailor their teaching to suit individual learning needs.

Once completed this course leads to a VTCT Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification is internationally recognised within the beauty industry. Your progress will be continually assessed through a combination of practical assessments, theory workbooks, assignments and exams. You will also build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course.

As part of your learning, you’ll also develop important reception and customer service skills, including making appointments, handling enquiries, and recommending treatments and products. You may also have opportunities to enhance your learning through guest speakers, industry insight sessions and educational visits.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above. A good standard of English is required to support the theory elements of the course.

If English is your second language, you’ll need to hold an ESOL Level 1 qualification.

No previous hairdressing or beauty experience is needed, but you should have a genuine interest in the subject, along with enthusiasm and commitment to your studies. As this is a part-time course, you’ll also need to be prepared for regular home study alongside your practical sessions.

All students will complete an English diagnostic assessment to support theory work. This will be sent to you by our admissions team and can be completed at home.

Before your course starts, you’ll be invited to an information session where you can meet your lecturers and find out more about what to expect. Full details will be confirmed by the admissions team.

This Could Lead to

Successful completion of this qualification could lead to employment in beauty salons, health clubs or on cruise ships in roles such as Beauty Therapist, Make-up Artist, or Mobile Therapist.

You could also choose to continue your training and progress to Level 3 study in a range of specialist areas.
