Day 13
Today was the day that everyone was most looking forward to, the safari!!! We left the lodge at 5:30 am to start our 3 hour drive to Ngorongoro crator. It was a long but scenic drive. Once we arrived at the gate, Ben went out and paid while we stretched and when we turned around there was loads of Baboons coming from the trees. Ben told us that they were all going to steal food from the nearby farmers. It was so cool to see them so close. Then we started to drive to the crator. On our way there, we saw giraffes and they were so so close this time, it was like I could touch them. My mum loves giraffes so I took lots of pictures to send to her. The drive to the crator itself was so fun as you can feel yourself going up and down. Once we were finally in the crator, we saw so much, like zebras, buffalos, waterhogs and wildebeest. We drove around and zebras were so close to the van, it was honestly crazy.
We drove some more and saw an elephant. I think everyone was very excited as that’s what most people wanted to see. It honestly blows my mind how close the elephant was. We then drove right near the pond and there we saw more zebras, wildebeest and flamingos. I was so happy to see the flamingos as they are my mums favourite so they always remind me of her. I again, took lots of pictures just so I could send them to her. We saw more elephants on the way to lunch. I find it so funny the way elephants eat, they wrap their trunk around the grass, pull it and shove it in there mouth even if they are still chewing. We had lunch next to a hippo pool. Me and Kenzie went to have a little look at the pool and see if we could spot any hippos. We did. They were just poking their heads out of the water to get some air, we only saw a few but I bet there was loads underneath the water.
After lunch, we then headed to the exit. On our way there, we saw a rhino just strolling around. He was a bit far away but we still saw him. Then towards the end of our drive, we saw hyenas and a lion. It honestly looked like the lion king. The hyenas were just surrounding the lion, maybe because the lion had some food that the hyenas wanted but we didn’t know. Then we drove back up the crator to the gate we entered in. We saw some more baboons and baboons that were carrying their babies, it was so cute. Once we were done with the safari, we went to a gift shop to do some last minute shopping. I’m happy because i’ve finally got everything for everyone and don’t have to worry about gifts anymore. We then drove 3 hours back to Vijiji for our last night in Tanzania.
