Day 7 Tanzania

Student: Ella-Mae Wilkinson

Country: Tanzania

Today we woke up in the mud huts where we all didn’t have the greatest sleep but headed down to breakfast. After breakfast we had half an hour to get ready to go on a five hour safari walk. I usually like walking but five hours was alot especially in the heat. But other than that it was such a cool experience and was very worth it when we got to see the animals. First we saw some gazelles and zebras which was so amazing actually see them in their habitat. We then walked a little more and saw some wildebeests which i’ve never seen before so that was something new. Then finally after waiting so so long we finally saw some giraffes, six to be exact.

We got so close to them and it was such a surreal experience to be able to see them in real life. As everyone was tired Humphry our driver came to save us with the bus and we met him at a certain point as his bus got stuck so to help we all had to sit at the back of the bus to put weight on the back wheels to help get the bus out of the mud. Ben our guide and some others from the tribe all helped to push the bus and we got it out of the mud and made our way back to the village. Unfortunately we had to leave the village a day early and since Vijiji was fully booked we made our way to a five star hotel in Kilimanjaro. When we arrived they welcomed us with fresh juice and we had key cards for our rooms and it was amazing. Comfy beds, nice showers and nice food.
