The Course in Detail
We want you to feel totally prepared to step into supported employment. This programme is tailored to tap into all the relevant skills, behaviours and attitudes required to succeed in the world of work.
Alongside developing your English, maths, personal and social skills, you will cover: Interview Skills, Personal Presentation, CV writing, Health and Safety Time Management Job Seeking, Work Experience Volunteering and Community Projects Enterprise Skills You will also develop an understanding of:
- Building professional relationships
- Appropriate conduct at work
- Problem solving
- Customer care
- Understanding roles and responsibilities
- Equality, diversity and cultural differences
- Motivation in the workplace
You will be encouraged to seek out work experience and voluntary opportunities during your time on the course to further strengthen your awareness and skills required for an Internship. This will be guided and supported by the college team.
Entry Requirements & Progression
What You'll Need
These programmes are designed for students with a learning difficulty and/or disability or for students who would like support to access employment.
Following application, successful candidates will be invited to an interview to discuss the appropriate level.
This course is only for learners aged 16-18 or 19-24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Students to be fully funded for the course must have an EHCP between the ages of 19 and 24.
This Could Lead to
The Skills for Supported Employment course is designed to help you further develop your work based and personal skills. At the end of the year, you will feel prepared and confident to progress to either a Supported Internship, a paid job or volunteer work.
You will spend time identifying and developing your own skills and qualities, and then match those to a realistic job goal. You will receive dedicated advice and guidance on work based opportunities in the local area, and the best progression opportunities. As part of the course, you will have opportunities to practice work based skills through work experience placements. You will also gain valuable support with CV writing, applying for jobs and practical preparation for interviews.
