The Course in Detail

The CIPD Level 3 Certificate in People Practice is a foundation-level professional qualification that provides a strong grounding in Human Resources and people practice, aligned to the CIPD Profession Map, which sets the international benchmark for the profession. Developed in collaboration with industry experts, it equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions and contribute effectively within a people practice role.

The qualification is designed to support those starting out in, aspiring to, or already working in HR or people support roles. It introduces a broad range of core HR and people practice knowledge within a business context, helping learners understand their organisation and the wider profession more deeply. It is particularly suited to individuals who want to build essential HR capabilities and deliver immediate, practical value to their organisation through tactical, impact-driven work.

Throughout the course, students gather and apply information from their role to develop their understanding of workplace practice, supporting change and contributing to both immediate and short-term organisational outcomes. This also provides a stepping stone towards CIPD membership at the appropriate level, supporting ongoing career and professional development within the people profession.

It is suited to those students who:

  • Are studying, aspiring to, or embarking on, a career in people practice
  • Are working in a people practice support role and wish to develop their knowledge and deliver immediate and short-term value for their organisation
  • Wish to develop the specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required to be a people professional.
