This Access to Higher Education Diploma will prepare you for studying at undergraduate level and the knowledge required to progress to a degree in nursing. On successful completion of the diploma, with the required amount of UCAS points, you will be able to enter university and achieve your ambition of becoming a nurse.
This course is suitable for Adult, Mental Health, Children’s and Learning Disability Nursing. There are 10 entry points for the diploma and you are enrolled for a full year but can complete before this.
You will need to apply to university through UCAS and full support will be given. UCAS opens in September and closes in January for the following September intakes. Some universities also have a January/February intake.
You will be required to complete an IAG unit “Preparing for Success” first and then will be fully enrolled on to the course. You will be assessed by a variety of methods, including essays, reports and presentations and you will need to have access to a laptop and the internet.
The course has a variety of units that include human biology, psychology, health and academic study skills.
UK resident’s aged 19 or over may have to pay their own fees but can apply for the Adult Advanced Learner Loan. Once the Access to HE Diploma, and the Nursing degree have been completed the outstanding balance of the Adult Advanced Learner Loan is written off (correct at time of publishing).

A place on your chosen course is not confirmed until enrolment is complete, and any relevant fees are paid. Adult course times, dates, durations and fees may be subject to change, and courses may be cancelled if minimum numbers are not met.
You will require GCSE English, maths and biology at grade 4/C or above.
It is advisable to have some experience in care either work or volunteering (depending on your choice of degree).

Important Note – This course is fully online therefore you will need to have access to a PC or laptop; a mobile phone is not suitable.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to go on to university and study BSc Nursing.
