Student and Trainer Announced as South East Finalists in National Apprenticeship Awards

A Digital T Level student and an Engineering Trainer from South Hampshire College Group are through to the regional finals of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2026.

Peter Seller is a Digital T Level Student who has made an extraordinary impact on his industry work placements with Hampshire Constabulary and Navy Digital, leading teams on live projects, conducting code reviews and maintaining robust quality assurance standards in software development. In addition to over 300 hours on his work placements, Peter has completed a variety of advanced professional training qualifications and supported college classmates through 1:1 mentoring. He has been shortlisted in the ‘T Level Student of the Year’ category of the National Apprenticeship Awards.

Hannah Green is a Professional Trainer in Engineering at South Hampshire College Group and a passionate advocate for apprenticeships and skills development. She has been shortlisted in the ‘Skills Champion’ category, recognising her work with employers, schools and aspiring engineers to open up opportunities, break down barriers and create a more inclusive engineering sector.

Hannah Green commented: “Having completed three apprenticeships myself, I’m incredibly passionate about championing the benefits they can offer and promoting them to a wide range of audiences, from young people and parents to employers. It is a real honour to be recognised for this through being shortlisted for the Skills Champion award.”

Peter Seller said: “Being shortlisted is incredibly rewarding and reinforces that the hard work, dedication, and commitment I’ve invested over the past two years have made a meaningful difference. To have that impact recognised is something I am truly proud of, and I am excited to see what opportunities may come next.”

Bethany Challoner, Director of Apprenticeships and Business Engagement at South Hampshire College Group, said: “The National Apprenticeship Awards are one of the flagship awards on the education calendar and it is fantastic to see this well-deserved recognition for our staff and students. Both Hannah and Peter are excellent ambassadors for apprenticeships and T Levels, and we will be firmly cheering them on at the South East Regional Finals in October.”

The National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards recognise the achievements of extraordinary apprentices, T Level students, the businesses that employ them, and the individuals that champion apprenticeships and skills.

The South East Regional Ceremony of the National Apprenticeship Awards will take place on Wednesday 14 October at DoubleTree Hilton in Woking. Winners will then proceed to the national ceremony which will be held in London in November.
