Computing for Beginners is designed as an introduction to the basics of using a home PC, aimed at individuals with little or no prior experience in computing. The course provides practical skills and knowledge to enable learners to confidently use computers for everyday tasks.
Students will learn:
Understand system basics:

Logging on and controlling the system.

Using input devices like the mouse and keyboard.

Basic navigation of the desktop, file explorer, and web browsers.
Use the internet effectively:

Performing web searches and image searches.

Accessing and using platforms like Pinterest.

Understanding online safety, including password safety and phishing awareness.
Explore AI tools at home:

Using tools like ChatGPT and Claude for everyday tasks.

Using AI to help with writing and planning.

Understanding what AI can and cannot do.
Work with Microsoft Office Suite:

Writing and formatting Word documents (e.g., recipes, hobbies).

Inserting images, using proofing tools, and adding special symbols.
Manage Finances Using Spreadsheets:

Creating a household budget sheet.

Using basic formulae and conditional formatting.
