Are you an experienced care professional who always demonstrates compassion and commitment?
Could you guide and inspire your team to make positive differences in people’s lives?
This Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship will take place at a community or residential based service, such as a nursing home, domiciliary care organisation, community day centre, or clinical healthcare setting. You will be the leader of a care team, responsible for ensuring the service is safe, effective, caring, and responsive to people’s needs.
With support from your employer and college classes, you will learn how to handle complex challenges and develop a values-based culture in your team. You’ll also grow skills and responsibilities specific to your role, which could include business development, financial control, managing risk and leading on organisational change.
Note – The role of Leader in Adult Care in this standard also covers Deputy/Assistant Managers and Personal Assistants who operate in a management role, but they may only work directly for one individual who needs support and/or care services.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of a Leader in Adult Care and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College for pre-arranged masterclasses.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
Suitable experience within the care sector is required.
Preferred: GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) and prior achievement of qualifications at either Level 3 or 4.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills to work as a Leader in Adult Care and progress to further career opportunities in the sector. This could include a higher-level qualification such as a HND in Health and Social Care Management.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
